What this is

A noncommercial corner of the internet about Apache Kafka — the writing it provokes and the open source it inspires. We work on it after hours, for the love of it.

On the name

Monedula is the genus name of the jackdaw — the small, sociable corvid that watches, remembers, and turns up where things are happening. It's also a quiet nod to Apache Kafka: Franz Kafka's surname comes from the Czech kavka — the jackdaw — so the same bird is hiding in the streaming platform's name too.

How we met

Years of Apache Kafka in common — Confluent deliveries into large banks and public institutions, with the consulting, training, and support engagements that grew up around them.
